03 FAQ
How do I type the ° degree symbol?
Windows: hold Alt and type 0176. Mac: press Option+Shift+8. In Word: type 00B0 then Alt+X. Or copy it above, it pastes as the real Degree Sign (U+00B0).
Is ° the same as the º ordinal indicator?
No. ° (U+00B0) is the degree sign for temperature and angles. º (U+00BA) is the masculine ordinal indicator used in Spanish/Portuguese (1º). They look similar but are different characters, use the degree sign for measurements.
How do I write °C and °F?
Type the degree sign then the letter: 25°C, 78°F. There are also single characters ℃ (U+2103) and ℉ (U+2109), but the degree-plus-letter form is more widely supported and preferred by most style guides.
