Email Symbols: Copy, Paste & How to Type

Updated 17 Aug 2026 · by SKK
1-minute answer

Email characters run from the plain ✉ envelope to the 📧 e-mail symbol, sent and received mail (📨 📩), trays (📥 📤) and mailboxes (📫 📮). Use them for contact links and message icons. Copy any from the keys below; being pictographic symbols they have no Windows Alt code, so in Word type the code shown and press Alt + X.

02 FAQ

How do I type an ✉ envelope or email symbol?

Copy it from the keys above, or in Word type 2709 then Alt+X for the plain envelope ✉, or 1F4E7 then Alt+X for the 📧 e-mail symbol. On phones both are in the emoji keyboard under objects.

What is the difference between ✉ and 📧?

✉ (U+2709) is a simple envelope, often shown in your text colour and good for contact links. 📧 (U+1F4E7) is the "e-mail" emoji, an envelope with an @ or "E", always coloured. Use ✉ in text and 📧 as an icon.

Is there a symbol just for an email address?

The @ sign (the "at" symbol) is what marks an email address, like name@example.com. It has its own dedicated guide; the symbols here are the envelope and mailbox icons that represent email as a whole.
