iPhone (iOS)
- Open the keyboard in any app and tap the emoji (smiley) or 🌐 globe key.
- Tap the Symbols category, or tap the search field and type arrow.
- Tap the emoji to drop it straight into your message.
Android
- Tap the emoji (smiley) icon next to the space bar on the keyboard.
- Use the search and type arrow, or open the Symbols tab.
- Tap the emoji to insert it at the cursor.
Windows
- Place your cursor where the emoji should go.
- Press Windows key + . (period) to open the emoji panel.
- Type arrow to filter, then click the emoji.
Mac
- Press Control + Command + Space to open the Character Viewer.

What's the difference between arrow emoji and arrow symbols?
Arrow emoji (⬆️➡️) are the bold, often coloured picture arrows in the emoji keyboard. Plain arrow symbols (→ ← ↑) are thin text characters you type inline, same idea, different weight and intent.
Where do I find arrow emoji?
Open the <b>Symbols</b> category in the emoji keyboard, or search "arrow". On a computer the emoji panel (Win + . or Ctrl + Cmd + Space) also filters to them.
Why does my arrow emoji show as a plain arrow?
Arrows like ⬆ have both a text and an emoji presentation. Adding the emoji variation makes it colourful; without it, some apps render the flat black outline instead.
